Limited Economic Reopener 2025 Negotiations

Since the County was bargaining with all other labor unions in early 2025 due to all other contracts expiring June 30, 2025 (a year earlier than MAPE), the County and MAPE agreed to a limited “reopener” in which the parties bargained over potential enhancements to the 2025 COLA and the Fringe benefit only.

The County of Marin and MAPE representatives began bargaining on this limited reopener the week of April 28th. The parties reached Tentative Agreement the week of June 23rd at their seventh session. The Tentative Agreement included a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) of 2.5%, which was in addition to the amount already negotiated for all MAPE members that was effective the first full pay period in July 2025, bringing MAPE to a 4% total COLA, as well as Fringe Benefits consistent with all other bargaining units. The Board of Supervisors approved this Tentative Agreement on July 15, 2025. That agreement may be found on the collective bargaining agreement page.

NOTE: The negotiations with MAPE were distinct from other union negotiations. The County was currently in full scale successor bargaining with all unions in 2025 except MAPE because all other union’s contracts expired June 30, 2025.
